Elegant Estate Beach Wedding
I have known Amanda and her family for over 7 years. I photographed Amanda’s Sweet 16 years ago and have done photos of her dance studio as well. When I heard she had gotten engaged I couldn’t believe how much time had gone by and she was no longer a young girl but a business owner and a woman about to become a wife.
I was honored when the family hired me to document Amanda’s big day. It is so special when you have known a client for so long and really feel a part of their family and get to share in many of their big moments. They had a perfect day and I have never seen Amanda smile so much as she did on her wedding day.
It was beautiful to watch,. Here is her story in her words about how they met and got engaged.
How we metOn January 28, 2012 a few of my friends came to my new condo for a girl’s night at my place. I live in Morristown in close proximity to a multitude of bars and restaurants so they thought it would be more fun to go out. Although I really was reluctant to go out that night and though it would be better to hang out at the apartment, they convinced me to go. Moments after entering the Dark Horse, this really cute guy came up to me and asked me if he could buy me a drink. In the past, I have always said no to this. However, this time felt different and I somehow trusted him within minutes. He got me a beer and we began talking and instantly had a connection. I got this feeling that I had never felt before and thought to myself, “Could this be love at first sight?? Can’t be! That’s only in movies and doesn’t exist in real life.” We started to dance to “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris and sparks began to fly. It was like we were one person; it felt as though we had known each other forever. After about an hour of dancing, my friends came over to us. Being the caring, protective friends that they are, they pulled me aside and made sure I wanted to keep talking and dancing with this guy. They insisted we take a picture together and proceeded to post it on Facebook.
This prompted us to become FB friends and to exchange numbers. The whole thing was extremely out of character for me! When the night ended and we were saying our goodbyes, it felt like I was saying goodbye to my boyfriend. We were inseparable and did not want to part ways, holding hands until we got too far apart that we couldn’t anymore. As I was walking back to the condo, I received a text from Brian. It was a night to remember and the rest was history. Brian and I compliment one another in every way and we are the perfect match! Every day we remind each other how lucky we are to have met and that the dark horse prevailed!
ProposalOn July 30, Brian and I headed to the beautiful country of Turkey on a family trip. I was so excited for Brian to experience the place I spent many incredible summers in because my mom’s family is from there. We arrived in Istanbul and immediately headed out to an amazing waterfront restaurant for dinner. The next day, we were ready to explore! We toured the magnificent Ciragan Palace hotel, walked around the cobblestone streets of Ortakoy, and enjoyed drinks at a waterfront restaurant in Bebek before we headed to the marina for a tour of Istanbul on the water that I thought my parents had arranged. We boarded a yacht named White Horse (what are the odds of that since we met at the Dark Horse?!) and settled into an incredible tour on the Bosphorous.
I sat on this private yacht relaxing with my love, my feet up in the air, sipping a glass of wine and enjoying the magnificent view. Now imagine, just as we are at the point where Europe and Asia meet, I look up on the Bosphorous bridge and see my name written in big green lights. I turn to Brian, since I was completely confused, and asked, “Is that my name up there?” Brian tells me he has been wanting to ask me something for a while and just as he gets down on one knee, the words “Will you marry me?!” appear on the bridge in giant green laser lights! I jumped onto him and we both cried tears of joy and happiness. Of course I say yes! Suddenly fog horns and sparklers went off! It was an unbelievably magical moment we will both cherish forever!
