How long has Rosenberry Rooms been in business?
RosenberryRooms.com was established in 2004, as an online resource to serve all parents looking for high-end children’s furniture, bedding, décor, gifts and gear. In mid 2009, we opened our flagship retail store and design center in Raleigh, NC to allow us to interact with our local customers.
What was the inspiration to start Rosenberry Rooms?
I have always felt a strong entrepreneurial desire, and after my second daughter was born I did some soul searching to pinpoint my passions and figure out how to translate those into a practical business. I discovered that working in a company that helps parents to design inspiring children’s spaces, while keeping the process creative, fun and stress-free would be the perfect fit for me! I LOVE kids and am very passionate about designing children’s rooms, and Rosenberry Rooms was born out of that excitement and interest. There is nothing more fun and rewarding than creating a wonderful space for a child, whether it is a baby’s nursery, a teen room or a playroom. To facilitate this process for our customers and to share in this experience with other parents from around the world is such a treat.
How do you balance Work and Home life?
I have five children ranging in age from 1-14, so between family and work, there is little to no time left in the day, and things like sleep drop to the bottom of the priority list! As my children grow and develop their own interests and responsibilities, I am noticing this “balancing act” is getting even trickier. I try to work from home quite a bit, so that my kids can pop in and see me throughout the day, and so that I can take breaks to nurse the baby or pick the kids up from school. Once all of the children are tucked in bed at night, I always try to take advantage of that time to squeeze in a few more hours of work. The fact that I enjoy my work tremendously makes it a lot easier to devote so much time to it. Although I don’t think that there is a single approach that works best for everyone, the one lesson I have learned is that it is crucial to be efficient in everything I do. I am always doing two things at once – if I’m talking on the phone, I’m also organizing something, if I am in line at the coffee shop, I am also writing an email. Thank goodness for my iPhone!
What is your favorite color scheme right now?
I love the combination of turquoise, green and orange, which we will be featuring in a new vignette in our store soon.

When designing a children’s room what are you top 5 tips for Design?
• Incorporate your child’s personality into the room – For example, add a display shelf for your Lego lover or a map for your little explorer.
• Keep it clutter free with stylish storage – I hate a mess, and I like to make clean up simple with clever and cute storage solutions like colorful hat boxes, labeled vintage crates or an under bed storage trundle
• Personalize It! – A letter pillow, personalized art piece, or wall initial are all great ways to inspire add a personal touch to their space.
• Create a quiet corner – I like to incorporate a designated area for reading or relaxing. A comfy chair or beanbag is great, but throw pillows work well, too.
• Indulge in Art – I think art in some form is a crucial element for a child’s room, to spark the imagination, initiate great bedtime conversations and inspire creativity!
What is the most important thing to remember while designing space for children?
First and foremost, have fun! Remember that there are no real rules or limitations when designing for children. You can be creative and let your imagination take over, while keeping all of the necessary practical and functional elements in place to ultimately achieve a unique and comfortable space.
How can design carry over to children’s parties?
Children’s parties and interior design for children’s spaces are two of my favorite things! All of the same elements are at play – incorporating the child’s interests into the party theme, using fun colors, being creative, and making sure the focus is to have fun! I am fascinated by all of those talented party ladies out there, who funnel all of their creative energy into crafting cool party designs.
What is your favorite party theme for kids?
The favorite party that I have seen thus far is the rainbow-themed party, because I adore the cheerful colors and I am obsessed with the fabulous multi-layered rainbow cake! One day, I will attempt to make that cake…
What is in the future for Rosenberry Rooms?

What is your personal style?
My personal style is classic, yet colorful. I love mixing colors with shoes, clothing and jewelry (lemon, lime, orange, chartreuse and turquoise are among my favorites.) My interior design style has changed and evolved quite a bit over the years, but I would say that comfort and usability are always key. We have a large family and a huge extended family, so ample seating and dining space is important . Last, but certainly not least, my approach to designing children’s rooms is simply to create a fresh, comfortable and inspiring space, and to have fun in the process! My particular style tends to be very dependent upon the age of the child and their interests. I really do adore so many different designers featured on RosenberryRooms.com and I like to use as many different Rosenberry Rooms products throughout all rooms of our home. Among my children’s rooms, you will find a wide variety of styles and personalities. My teenage daughter’s room is quite bright and modern, while my youngest daughters share a very feminine, traditional space featuring pink and turquoise. My middle daughter has a lavender and green, whimsical room, and my son’s room features the classic mix of blue and brown.
What is your favorite color?
What is your favorite place to vacation and why?
Kenya, Africa. Our family visited Kenya in the summer of 2010, and it is the most incredible country. The beauty is almost overwhelming. We divided our time between and the Masaii Mara where we went on safari and Mombasa where we spent time on the beach. The lovely Masaii people, the landscape, the wildlife…the entire experience was so special. I cannot wait to go back again one day.
