Wizard of Oz Baby Shower
Mommy-to-be, Kelsey, had long been obsessed with the Wizard of Oz as her lifelong favorite movie, so when it came time to shower her before the arrival of her first baby, the theme was an easy choice. Wizard of Oz Baby Shower was her dream come true. So get ready to feat on these amazing Wizard of Oz Baby Shower ideas.
To Kelsey’s delight, nods to the classic film were present at every turn, and as a special touch she received a yellow corsage to wear for the afternoon. As guests arrived they followed a winding yellow brick road path to the front door, complete with cute custom chalkboard and hanging door sign as shown in the movie. Red gerbera daisies in the entrance evoked the feel of walking through a field of poppies, and guests enjoyed a spread of adorably named treats, from a yellow brick road of cheese, to munchkin sliders and scarecrow straw-berry salad. Dining tables were dressed with signature gingham fabric with pops of yellow flora and a pair of ruby slippers! After lunch, Kelsey cut into her crazy cute cake which featured a yellow brick road snaking up the side of a grassy field of flowers to the twister-dropped house at the top – how amazing are the details like the little witch feet and slippers under the house, or the bales of hay and tin man hat? Inside was a delicious chocolate cake with mocha mousse.
Beverage dispensers of themed punches were served with coordinating cups and decorative straws; one spiked with Moscato wine and one non-alcoholic for the guest of honor. Guests signed the yellow brick road guestbook artwork (to be hung in the nursery later) and played games like Wizard of Oz trivia, and Gift Bingo (where they filled in spaces as the mommy-to-be opened her presents).
The mantle was loaded with gifts for the new Mom and Dad, and adorned with a handmade pennant banner, tall green floral arrangements and balloons reminiscent of the emerald city, and even vintage Wizard of Oz sketches in frames. And seriously, how cute is that emerald city diaper cake made out of rolled green diapers, wipes, and washclothes? The flying monkeys and glittery green towers at the top are too adorable for words – Kelsey said she may just leave it on display in the nursery because it was too sweet to take apart! Before departing, guests posed for a group photo to commemorate the day, and then filled sparkly bags with Emerald City Sweets from the candy station, including confections like tin man hats (Hershey kissed), lions and tigers and bears (chocolate and iced animal crackers), and lemon drop candies! The entire afternoon was wonderful and Kelsey was so thrilled with the outpouring of love and excitement at this special event that was so clearly designed with her favorite film in mind.
